In order to take advantage of the opportunities of good returns on investments that will be opening in Nigeria’s growing Agricultural business, experts and stakeholders in the sector are converging in Abuja to x-ray the dynamics of commodity markets.

The discussions, which will focus on Commodity Trading and Risk Management, are intended to help stakeholders understand how to optimise value created and traded in the market.

Mr. Scott Branch, Director, INTL FCStone Inc, organisers of the event scheduled to open at Abuja on Tuesday April 19, said this has become necessary given the economic condition of the country. He said: “We live in a world full of opportunities in financial markets, but not a world full of access,” and empahsises the reason his organisation wants to ensure that people have access to the best advice, the best products and the most efficient market access.

In partnership with AFEX Commodities Exchange Limited, the first private-sector Exchange in Nigeria, the organiser said the two-day colloquium, which takes place at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja will enable participants understand their roles in setting up, operating and trading in the commodities market through exchanges, and evaluate and identify the scope of markets in order to mitigate risks from commodity exposure.

Branch revealed the workshop would expose participants on how to develop hedging strategies more knowledgeably, have the opportunity of ‘hand-holding’ interaction with professional advisers on implementing appropriate risk management strategies, as well as gain commercial and economic advantage from market participation.
